What are the advantages of using compressed air safety couplings in your operation as opposed to conventional standard compressed air couplings?

Standard compressed air couplings and hose couplings are commonly used in many fields. But more and more operations are equipping their compressed air technology with BiTec safety couplings. What is the difference between a safety coupling and a classic quick-release coupling and what are the advantages of safety couplings? The following section explains the benefits of using BiTec safety couplings (compliant with DIN EN ISO 4414) in your operation:

The operating principle of BiTec compressed air and safety couplings (series 12.SC and 100.C) is different from that of classic standard compressed air connectors.

Both versions use the same procedure to connect the plug connector and coupling socket.

The important difference is how they are disconnected. In standard quick-release couplings, the connection is under pressure. If the plug connector side of the connection is not held in place, the connector may lash around uncontrollably. This effect is also referred to as “hose whip”.

BiTec STEINCONNECTOR safety couplings from series 12.SC and 100.C eliminate the risk of this happening. Before decoupling the connection, it is vented using the sliding sleeve or release sleeve. The coupling socket is sealed, and air is vented from the plug connector. The connector can then be easily and safely disconnected by moving the release sleeve again.

This eliminates the risk of injury for employees and potential damage to production components in your assembly areas.
